Have you ever felt conflicted about a piece of clothing you love, hesitating over whether it’s worth the investment? I often discuss how reframing our mindset can transform these moments, especially when we crave something that isn’t an impulse buy.
Let me share a personal example to illustrate this.
I came across a stunning Veronica Beard blazer that took my breath away. It’s elegant and chic, exuding confidence—all qualities we aspire to have in our wardrobes. But I felt a wave of doubt when I saw the $698 price tag. Was it too expensive?
Then, a lightbulb moment struck! This didn’t have to be just about the price. Instead, it could be an opportunity for growth.
I had two paths to consider: either trust that I could manifest the funds for this piece or seek out similar blazers at a more budget-friendly price point. I decided to explore the second option first.
I took a picture of the gorgeous blazer and used Google’s search-by-image feature to find lookalikes. There were numerous choices, but I’ve learned to be discerning—I prefer shopping from trusted stores and am cautious about prices that seem too low, as they often indicate poor quality.
One alternative I found was a black-and-white blazer from L’Agence, priced at $625. It was still steep, but I thought, “Maybe they’ll have a friends and family sale in the spring.” These events typically offer great discounts of around 25%, and I could also check department stores like Saks and Nordstrom.
Then, I recalled a moment at J.Crew when I spotted a jacket with black lapels and a similar vibe. I snapped a picture, but when I tried to find it online later, it was nowhere to be found! Priced at $325, it felt more budget-friendly, but my heart still belonged to the Veronica Beard piece.
I even considered Rent the Runway, a fantastic resource for renting high-end clothing. Unfortunately, that jacket wasn’t listed on their website. This is one of the challenges of renting—you don’t always find every piece you want in their inventory.
It became clear that I had my heart set on this jacket and was determined to make it mine. It felt worth waiting to see if I could manifest the money.
To explore my options, I checked my credit cards for any special promotions with the brand and the department stores that carry the blazer. I also looked at my credit card points to see if I could apply those toward the purchase. Furthermore, many brands offer 10% off just for signing up for their email lists. Once on the list, you often start receiving promotional emails that could help reduce the overall cost.
My plan moving forward is to add this blazer to my wish list. I’ll visualize myself pairing it with various outfits and wearing it to special events. This approach is about having fun with the manifestation process.
I share this experience because it highlights how we often talk ourselves out of what we truly want in various areas of our lives. This is a key moment to identify the beliefs that hold us back.
When you clarify your desires in one area of your life, you can transform that clarity into a game, shifting your mindset in other areas as well.
Remember, creating a new image isn’t just about your external appearance; it’s about fostering internal change and embracing a more joyful life.
