I just have to share with you the amazing experience I had last weekend! I organized a Scavenger Hunt for my NYC Advance Local Group in NYC. The weather was so challenging – hot and rainy- making it tough to plan my outfit!
I had to take a train to Grand Central and walk a mile to Hudson Yards. I had to think about what to wear to stay dry cool, and keep my curls intact while hosting the event. Originally, I planned to wear dressy shorts and a nice top, but I ended up wearing a dress I’d worn before, which was the perfect choice. I also decided to carry my heels and wear sneakers for the journey to ensure I stayed comfortable.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a place to sit and freshen up, so I didn’t even get a chance to put on my heels, which was frustrating. But it’s better to be overprepared than underprepared, right?
After every event, I like to reflect and think about how to improve next time. The bathrooms at Hudson Yards didn’t provide a good space to freshen up and put my bag down, so next time, I’ll need to ensure I have enough time to prepare and carry a bag with easier compartments. For this event, I devised 7 questions based on the stores in the Hudson Yards Mall. One of the questions was: If you had a magical gift card with $25,000 that you had to spend in 15 minutes, what would you buy?
As I thought about the questions, I realized that the goal was to encourage participants to imagine a life where they could buy anything without worrying about money. This led me to an incredible visit to a prestigious jewelry store called Marli. As I browsed through their collection, I was enchanted by their beautiful rings and bracelets that exuded the royal essence of Cleopatra.
The jewelry I saw was adorned with timeless elegance and allure that reminded me of the legendary Cleopatra. I noticed a sign that described the pieces with three words: Daring, Distinctive, and Edgy, which resonated deeply with my personal style. When I found out that these pieces were inspired by Cleopatra, I was immediately drawn to them. Even though this wasn’t part of my original plan, I realized how Cleopatra’s captivating energy aligns with my desire to show strength and sophistication through my fashion choices.
The allure of Cleopatra, a symbol of power and refinement, really spoke to me on a deep level. This experience enhanced my style journey and reminded me of the impact that historical figures can have on modern fashion expressions. These qualities of strength, finesse, and deliberate self-presentation are important things to consider when redefining and updating your personal style.
