This week I decided to pull back the curtain and invite you into a behind the scenes look into my VIP client sessions to share how simple and small changes can result in huge shifts in life.
Let me share with you about Melanie who was so sick and tired of her job it she was about to up and quit her job. Oh, you’ve been there that fantasizing about walking into your boss’s office and telling her to you know what and quitting right on the spot! Just the vision can bring such an adrenaline rush.
Well, that’s where Melanie was about three months ago. She woke at 3 AM having a breakdown and frantically searching the web for advice on quitting her high level six figure job. She came across my “Toxic Work Environment” video and she resonated with what I had to say so she gave me a call.
By the time we spoke, she had already implemented some of my tips from the video. Wow, I was impressed at how quickly she started the process, but when we spoke, her negative voice told me something different. Hesitation had set in and she was already telling herself, “don’t be a sucker, these changes never last.”
As I chatted with Melanie, I could see the talented woman she was and that she was capable of creating the lifestyle she wanted, but she needed to first be 100% convinced that change was possible.
I asked Melanie the simple question, “Are you open and ready to creating the lifestyle you want?” Yes, she said. But that yes, didn’t sound like a 9 or a 10 response, it sounded more like a weak 4 response. So what’s up?
She proceeded to tell me her past failures with coaching and motivational programs. I stopped her before she went too deep. Back to one simple question, were you open and ready to believe you could have the lifestyle you wanted when you worked with those programs? Pause…no.
She was honest so I needed to be too. I told her that I only work with clients who can give me a strong “YES!” I am ready to help you but if you are not open you will never see results, which isn’t good for either of us.
Melanie was taken back by this and said, “I’m disappointed you’re not trying to talk me into this I’m use to a good fight and defending my pity story!”
Ah, she nailed it right there…”I’m used to defending my pity story of why life is so challenging to me!”
Silence. She was starting to get it. She saw that this would have to be a different experience working with me. I asked, “Are you ready for a change but just not sure how that looks?”
This time, Melanie responded with a strong Yes! combined with a relief she said she felt like crying. Now that is a sign of release! She asked, “If we managed this breakthrough what would happen if I started the 30 Day Lifestyle Makeover program? How would it work? What does it look like to start the program with success in mind?”
I told her, “As much as you are willing to allow happen is as much change that you will receive.”
Through this conversation Melanie experienced the shift and felt the energy move through her.
Change happens when you feel the inner shift, words don’t teach, life experience teaches.
I’m going to continue to share what I taught I Melanie in the next few blogs, but let’s discuss the lessons for you to take away.
When programs, products, healing modalities don’t give you the overnight success you expect ask yourself these questions:

- Was I open and ready to make the change?
- Did I continue to put resistance on my path by telling my past failures?
- Was I hard on myself when I hit the first bump on the road?
If you haven’t seen the results you’ve wanted in your life you really have to be honest with yourself, don’t get me wrong there are professionals, products that just don’t work but when you don’t believe it you attract them into your life.
So if your “nothing ever works for me story” is the #1 theme song playing so loud the entire universe can hear it, you are going to attract nothing but less quality people and products in your life.
It’s time to erase that story, by shifting it to “Everything works out for me.”
Melanie’s first assignment was to write that line 9 times first thing in the morning everyday until our next session. Honestly, the first 3 days were challenging but I will share that story in next week’s blog.
