Things You Should Never Do Before a Photo Shoot or Big Event

Often, we feel very stressed out before a big event, which can lead us to indulge in junk or “stress” food. We may not realize how this affects our digestion, potentially leading to bloating and puffy eyes. For instance, I remember being incredibly tired one night and eating a burger from a pizza place. The next morning, I woke up with huge bags under my eyes—so puffy! The hamburger and fries I had eaten the night before were high in sodium, showing on my puffy eyes. Since that experience, I’ve learned to be more mindful about how certain foods affect me, especially during stressful times.

I recommend blocking out at least three days before a photo shoot or event and focusing more on pampering yourself. Massages, clean eating, working out, meditations-what you know- you need to pamper yourself to look your best.

Celebrities prepare extensively for big red carpet-events, often starting their preparation weeks in advance. Dermatologists are fully booked with appointments to help them get ready.

Additionally, avoid making drastic changes, like cutting your hair or trying new products, right before the event. Stick to what you know works for you; this is not the time to experiment. The last thing you want is to look less than your best, regardless of how much makeup you wear or how nice your outfit is—there are simply some things that can’t be hidden with makeup or clothing.
