In my summer of transformation programs, I’m working on more than just my client’s wardrobe—I’m challenging them to clean up their makeup and skincare routines. To help you with the process, I’ve got a little challenge.

Let’s start by taking a look at your makeup collection. I bet there are a few items you have more than enough of, right? The challenge is to use them up before buying new ones. It’s like a game of ‘use it or lose it’ with your makeup stash.

For example, I have 8 lipsticks—4 warm tones, 3 cool tones, 3 lip stains, 2 glosses, and 3 lip pencils. I have a couple of lipsticks that I don’t particularly love on their own, so I’ve been mixing them with other colors. Right now, my goal is to finish all these lipsticks before buying more.

I know many of you have a larger collection of lipsticks that could probably last you a year. My challenge to you is to review your makeup and start wearing it. If there’s anything you don’t like and can’t make work, discard it. Please note that Sephora and Ulta now recycle makeup, so you just have to review the process. If anything is unopened, pass it along to a friend or donate it to a local women’s shelter if you have a lot to give.

Participating in this challenge not only helps you understand your shopping habits but also saves you a significant amount of money. Moreover, it leads to a more organized and efficient morning routine. These personal benefits make the challenge more rewarding and worth undertaking.

So, how long could you go without buying new skincare or makeup? Would you like to participate in a wardrobe and makeup declutter challenge? Comment “Challenge” below if you’d like to join me. I’ve done this in the past and would like to do it again.
