A few years ago, I was giving a talk at the Kenneth Cole store in NYC.
I had bought a new belt for my dress but accidentally got the size too big.
I mentioned this to my event planner, who suggested I visit the Grand Central Station shoe stand to adjust my belt.
Relieved, I got off the train and brought my belt to the shoe stand. In just 10 minutes, he was able to shorten it and create another hole for a better fit. With my problem solved, I was on my way to my event.
I was fortunate to have a quick fix that I needed and enjoy my event. But often, we make these mistakes because we plan things at the last minute, and that’s when we add more unnecessary stress to our lives.
During closet edits with clients, I review their current pieces and ensure that any items needing repair are addressed. This way, we stay ahead of any potential wardrobe malfunctions.
This often includes shoes needing new heel tips, scratches touched up, or sneakers cleaned.
Handbags may also need repairs or cleaning, and belts may need their holes adjusted.
I encourage you to take a look at your closet. Is there anything you haven’t worn because it’s broken but you love it?
Take control of your wardrobe. If there’s something you haven’t worn because it’s broken but you love it, let’s set it aside and plan to take it to a repair shop. You deserve to wear what you love. It’s all about developing new habits and gaining a fresh perspective.
