When you are putting together your wardrobe, do you have a specific color in mind as your guide? I recently conducted a poll on social media asking women about their preferred color schemes when building their wardrobes.
Here are the results:
As you can see from the results, there’s a tie between cool colors like black, grey, navy, and white and earth tones like brown, burgundy, camel, and olive. However, the winner is the mixed colors, and I’m not surprised, as sometimes great style doesn’t always come in the color you love. Therefore, the style tends to win over color.
Using a color scheme to build your wardrobe saves you time and money. Plus, it’s easier to build a wardrobe when you know these colors coordinate effortlessly, meaning you can create more outfits.
Since it’s fall, the most popular store color is burgundy.
Burgundy, a rich and luxurious color, is a versatile choice that can be paired with various colors to create different vibes and energies. It symbolizes passion, strength, and vitality, making it a bold and impactful choice for any wardrobe. When paired with blush tones, it creates a beautiful, soft, romantic, and loving energy. This color combination evokes a sense of warmth and grace, making it perfect for casual and formal attire. Whether it’s a burgundy blouse paired with blush pants or a blush top with a burgundy skirt, this color duo is versatile and timeless, adding a touch of charm to any outfit.
Take a look at this ad from Talbots, which is all over my Instagram feed and focused on Burgundy and Blush. Can you see the soft, romantic feel of this color combination?

I love teaching about the meaning of colors and often share this information with clients as we determine their intention for the season. This process involves understanding their personal style, the occasions they’ll be dressing for, and the emotions they want to evoke with their outfits. It’s so empowering and helps them connect to their visions.
So, let’s look at the three outfits I put together.

For this outfit, I’ve combined a peach copper silk blouse with burgundy velvet pants, camel suede booties, and a burgundy bag. This combination creates a high-low contrast, giving the outfit a vibrant and energetic feel. It’s perfect for a night out with the girls and can also be worn to a meeting if paired with a blazer.
