Did you know that your space and surroundings tell a lot about your relationship with money?  Are you aware of certain areas in your home that can have an impact on your wealth potential?

The way we arrange and fill our space can reveal internal patterns about ourselves that we may not even know exist.  We may have a house full of stuff but we don’t feel like it is enough. Or maybe we live in a space that suggests a lack of abundance.

The items that surround us on an everyday basis should be inspiring and energizing.  However, many of us purchase items we don’t need or love. We do so with the intention these “things”  are going to make us happy but they don’t. The mistake I see many clients make is selecting items they “think they need” but it’s not what they really want or love and these things just fill up space taking away energy rather than releasing it.

Abundance is a state of mind that you experience when you are grateful for all the beautiful things in your life, like family, friends, health, love, and freedom to do the things you love. In Feng Shui, the key to promoting a feeling of abundance is to create an environment that is balanced, decorated in a style that reflects who you are and releases positive energy.

Here are 5 ways to create a space that embraces abundance.

1)Let go of items that no longer serve you.

We often hold on to items because we believe they define us in some way or

because we are afraid of being without – what if we might need it someday?

These beliefs are blocking you from receiving more in your life. If you don’t appreciate what you have in your life, how do expect to receive more? By letting go of items that no longer serve you it’s affirming to the universe I am open to receiving more.

2) Fill your fruit bowl.

An empty fruit bowl can leave an impression of lack. If you fill your fruit bowl with an  overflow of fruit it will give you the feeling of abundance and health – I have plenty of food. The same is true for your pantry and fridge. Do not fill it just to fill it, but organize it with items you love, use and enjoy.  When it’s full you are filled up with feelings of abundance and your mindset operates from abundance rather than lack.

3)Money jar.

You may already have a jar you fill with spare change or dollar bills, but if you don’t, get one.  I have a glass vase in the shape of a purse that I keep in my bedroom. I throw change and dollar bills in there with the intention of treating myself to something nice when it’s full. Place this simple jar in your office or home in a place you will see every day. Set an intention of what you want to do with the money when it’s full and get excited every time you add to it and wonder how much it is growing.

4) Create a money box

The way we organize our financial papers, checkbooks and money say a lot about our  relationship to money. I recommend creating a money box that holds your daily financial  papers, checkbooks and bookkeeping items in a beautiful box that makes you feel good. By keeping these items organized in a beautiful space you are honoring your relationship with money. Add affirmations to the box, so when you open it you repeat them and shift to a more prosperous mindset that will help you pay your bills with gratitude.

5)Your wallet

This is one of the most important areas that can help us maintain a happy relationship with money. First, select a wallet that makes you feel abundant. I encourage you to spend time finding a wallet that works for you and is stylish. Go ahead and splurge a little more here. In Feng Shui, red, green and purple represent money. The key is keeping your wallet neat and organized. If it’s cluttered with receipts, coupons and old credit cards, this drains your energy, as every time you reach for your wallet it’s a major project to just make a purchase. Keep some cash in your wallet so when you open it up you think “I have money” and avoid saying things like “ I have no money”.

These 5 simple actions can make a big mental shift regarding money and will have a big impact on your feeling of abundance. By implementing these small little tasks on an everyday basis you begin to operate from a feeling of abundance rather than lack.
