As we come to the end of 2013, two things come before us guilt or joy. Guilt that we didn’t achieve our goal or joy that we did. I recently was in a networking meeting when my friend shared about her upcoming course, Elevate Your Business, tele-class. She holds this class every year for her coaching clients to evaluate the previous year, asking the most important questions like what worked, what didn’t and why? From this review, she then guides her clients to create their goals for the new year. I found this such a great way to create goals coming from a place of discovering what worked, why it worked and then taking that discovery and creating new goals for the next year. I believe this same tool can be applied with Feng Shui and I want to share how.
I know you have a list of things you want to accomplish in your space. Paint the interior rooms, de-clutter the basement, organize the linen closet, clean out your financial papers and go paperless, etc. The list goes on and on leaving you feeling like it’s never going to finish and sadly, the truth is it never does. We always want something. Once we achieve one thing there is another task to do. But here’s the key…I know you accomplished at least one thing in 2013. What was it? What did it take for you to get it done? Did you listen to a call and get inspired by the tips offered. Did you finally get fed-up and had no choice but to do it? Maybe you had to block time out in your schedule? Or maybe someone was holding you accountable? If you can understand what motivated you to get that task done, go back tap into that energy and repeat it again, but better.
Yes, repeat what you did last year the steps you took to get it done. But this time do it even better and faster. Be stronger and wiser.
Recall the feeling you had when you finally accomplished that task, how good it felt to walk in your new kitchen, or finally have money saved up to buy that new bedroom set you’ve always wanted. Now, use that energy to sit down and write down your goals for 2014. I will share that writing down your goals has a great impact on them. Make them stronger by setting mini-goals that lead to bigger goals, implement something new every week or every day.
For example, de-clutter one area of your space by discarding 3 items for nine days. Tap into the auspicious energy of the number 9. Just keep repeating this over and over. Soon your space will become free and clear of clutter. When you lose faith, remember the feeling you had just getting it done, recall what happened after you achieved it. I know it improved your health as once you release the toxic energy of clutter or a project undone in your space, your body becomes more relaxed and at peace.
I want you to get a notebook and commit to writing down your daily goals this year based on what you know worked from last year. Keep asking yourself what works for me, how does it feel to accomplish it, write it down and boom, your new goals are set and you have the wonderful feeling of possibility! Try to stretch and make your goals a little higher than what you did last year. Work from where you are and it will make all the difference in the world.
Remember, the best way to be successful with your goals is to affirm them with Feng Shui. Set up a strategy call to see if I can help you achieve your 2014 goals.
I would love to hear what some of your 2014 goals are, please leave a comment and share.
